Win a Trip to Savor Borgata - Recipes

My husband and I were hesitant to go to Angeline’s after reading the reviews on Trip Advisor, but after trying all the other restaurants in Borgata, we thought we’d give it a try. I must tell the true “foodies” who eat in the city, GO! It was excellent from start to finish! Our waiter Saul was knowledgeable, and friendly! I had the shrimp appetizer which was Devine. Cocktails were great. The dipping oil for the bread, excellent. Now to the main course, I had mammas lasgana which was very flavorful and not too cheesy, but very filling. The sauce was just like my Italian friends grandmas!
My husband had the bolognese which came out like a huge pinwheel! I’ve never seen bolognese served like this! I have a pic but it won’t load. My husband ate the whole thing! My advice is GO! If you like good food, not pizzeria prices. you won’t be disappointed

We made reservations for Angeline the day of, on a Saturday night and were able to be seated without issue (win #1). The decor and design is beautiful and subtly classic and not as DARK as every other hotspot is (win #2). We opted for cocktails to start, and really enjoyed them. Our waiter Dimitri was extremely knowledgeable and helped answer any questions we had about the menu. We had almost every vegetarian appetizer and opted for the wood-fired Branzino for dinner as well as pasta. I would say that we had a multitude of items from the menu and each item was better than the previous. We had dined at other restaurants in Atlantic City and did not find them to be up to par. I was very pleasantly surprised by how incredibly fresh, flavorful and original the menu items were. We had a wonderful dining experience and will be sure to come back again.

It definitely looks like it but doesn’t taste like it. I haven’t been at the Borgata for a while and some things never change. Still have to pay for parking and the restaurants here are awful.

Nothing here is really fine dining except for maybe the Wolfgang Puck restaurant here and that’s a maybe depending on what you order.

While Angeline is fine as a casual restaurant, it still won’t earn fine marks as one because the casual Italian in my neighborhood, Parm, actually makes its pasta fresh. Here, you would expect that for the price but no, you get supermarket spaghetti and it was undercooked as well.

The portions are small and very oily. The tasting board is a bit better but lacks variety and not generous.

I recommend sticking to casual dining since these fine restaurants close early at 9:30pm and you can’t even enjoy the game.

I did get lucky at the black jack table so may come back but will just stick to the casual bars.

Hello Max, We apologize you were disappointed in your dining experience at Angeline. Our goal is to provide an appetizing, fine dining experience to each guest, and apologize again we fell short during your visit. Please know that our General Manager & Chef at Angeline have been made aware of your comments, and will use them to make improvements in the areas you pointed out. We do hope to be able to welcome you back to Angeline and provide you with a more enjoyable visit.

Atlantic City's Borgata Announces Socially Distant Food Festival

The roaming tasting events may be gone, as will the massive crowds of foodies with wine glasses dangling from lanyards around their necks, but what remains is the essence of a mouth-watering culinary event. Atlantic City's Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa has redefined its annual event as Savor Borgata: Unmask the Flavor (November 20-21), an exclusive series of socially distant dining experiences.

"We can still Savor Borgata, but now we'll Savor Borgata more safely," said Becky Schultz, Vice President of Hospitality for Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa. 60+ Romantic Fall Weekend Getaways to Add to Your Travel List

If you feel like you and your partner are in desperate need of alone time, you're probably right! And nothing's more romantic than a weekend away with your love &mdash especially when we've picked the coziest B&B's, restaurants, and activities for you to enjoy together. Choose a destination, pack your bag, and reignite your relationship. We won't blame you if you never want to come home.

Nothing says romance like the island of Martha's Vineyard. The cozy colony is usually a summer destination, but come fall it's more quiet and affordable (talk about a win-win). Lay your head down at the Mansion House Inn for a luxury stay by the wharf or rent one of the famous gingerbread cottages. Make sure your agenda includes a visit to the historic Martha's Vineyard Playhouse or a relaxing afternoon at Mytoi, the 14-acre Japanese garden. And for dinner, grab a table at State Road, an upscale tavern serving locally sourced food from nearby farmers, fisherman, and food artisans.

Once known as the Honeymoon Capital of the World, Niagara Falls still doesn't skimp on the romance. You can take in views of the Falls on a sweet stroll, or get your adrenaline pumping on an impossibly fun Niagara Jet Adventures boat ride. Once you've dried off, hit the wine trails (you can't go wrong with Victorianbourg, Black Willow or Schulze) or, if beer is more your thing, have a craft bev and a slice of beef on weck pizza at Woodcock Bros Brewing. For dinner, grab a bite at Savor, then turn in at the Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino if gambling or a live rock band makes you feel lusty.

Seattle is the perfect destination for couples who love the outdoors. The city is surrounded by water and is home to thousands of parkland acres. Take a crisp autumn stroll through Parsons Gardens or spend time watching the sunset at Discovery Park. Then heat up your night with dinner and a show at The Pink Door &mdash known for its delicious Italian food and unforgettable burlesque acts. And, of course, you can't forget to visit the famous Space Needle for a breathtaking view of the city!

This capital city is home of the US Naval Academy &mdash and also the hidden gem of romantic getaways. The city boasts some of the most beautiful views of the Chesapeake Bay and unbeatable seafood year-round. Visit Cantler's Riverside Inn for freshly steamed crabs, smothered in Maryland's best Old Bay, or take a stroll along City Dock for some shopping and an afternoon sailing. Stay at the Annapolis Waterfront Hotel, which offers water views and a romance package for couples looking for a little extra TLC on their weekend getaway.

Take your significant other on a trip to the nation's capital for a weekend of sightseeing, history, and romance during the best season to visit. Go on a twilight tour of the city, making stops at the National WWII Memorial, Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial, and the Tidal Basin. For dinner, visit one of D.C's landmark restaurants like Ben's Chili Bowl or Founding Farmer's for a community feel. For something more upscale and secluded, take a trip to the Michelin star Plume restaurant located in The Jefferson, one of D.C's boutique hotels.

In denial about the end of summer? Spring for a little extra romance with a spontaneous trip to the Cayman Islands. Whether you choose to swim with the dolphins or visit the crystal caves, this Caribbean paradise is filled with tons of memory-making opportunities. Stay along the famous Seven Mile Beach in a quaint bed and breakfast or upgrade your visit with accommodations at the luxury Ritz-Carlton. While on vacation, make sure you try a few Caymanian dishes too &mdash like the conch fritters from the Eastern Star Bar and Fish Fry or Johnny Cakes from the Cracked Conch.

It may be the city of brotherly love, but we're just going to focus on the love part for our purposes. Not only can you rev your romance to new levels by ice skating at the Blue Cross RiverRink Winterfest, where a ski-style lodge, winter garden, and heated tent pop-up alongside the Delaware River waterfront, but you can make your way to Harp & Crown after for brunch and bowling at a speakeasy-style alley. Wind down the night at The Westin in the heart of Center City where you can enjoy a bubble bath for two or a burn some calories on your private Peloton bike if you're so inclined. No workout gear? No problem. Simply ask reception for a New Balance loaner. To find a bit of serenity in the urban oasis, opt for a couples massage at the nearby Ritz-Carlton and then hang around for some champers in the stunning lobby. Oh, and don't forget to take a photo at LOVE Park, because, hey, when in Philly.

If you're a couple looking for a good time, there's no better place to dance the night away than on Bourbon Street in the French Quarter. Start the night at Bourbon "O" for cocktails, craft beer, and live music. Once you've had enough libations, and you're looking to take the elegance up a notch, retire to a room at the Ritz-Carlton which is close to the center of everything, but far enough from the fray that you won't hear any late night revelers when you're sleeping in one of their super cushy beds. For a nibble that'll make you feel like old NOLA royalty, try the hotel's M Bistro.

Nothing says romance quite like a weekend of sipping bourbon by the fire and time spent at a spa that leaves you smelling like a peppermint candy cane. Enter Vermont's historic Woodstock Inn, where guests can also enjoy some seriously fine dining at one of their dynamite restaurants. Play a round of backgammon in a room so cozy you'll want to move in or compete in the game room. There are also endless hiking trails, bikes to borrow, falconry lessons, and nearby Billings Farm. Or you can just stay in bed. That's heavenly, too.

The perfect trip for history buffs or any couple just trying to soak up New England charm without having to drive far from a major airport. Go for a stroll along the Freedom Trail or if you like to take your sites sitting down, the duck tours are always delightful. Then share a chowder at Island Creek Oyster Bar and take in a Red Sox game. Not a fan of rowdy crowds? Hotel Commonwealth, conveniently situated in Kenmore Square, offers a Fenway Park Suite with views of the stadium so you can sip your Sam Adams without having to leave your cozy room.

Catch a game at Doubleday Field and schedule a walk-through of the National Baseball Hall of Fame &mdash those are cultural staples when visiting this upstate New York town. But once you're done with that, ramp up the romance with apple picking at Middlefield Orchard, beer tasting at Brewery Ommegang, or canoeing à la The Notebook on Lake Otsego. Settle into a room at the 106-year-old Otesaga Resort Hotel, where you can enjoy lakefront views that seem straight out of a 19th-century painting (with plenty of autumn leaf-peeping to boot), while nestled into a rocking chair on the veranda. A glass of wine in hand is totally optional, but, hey, you're on vacation.

Whether your idea of romance is paddle boarding with turtles together, or kicking back on the beach with a wine slushie (or three), Barbados offers everything for adventure seekers and couples that need to just chill out. Stay at luxe spa.

Travel two hours south and you'll find yourself in the cozy Catskill mountains. Check in at the Ecce Bed & Breakfast in Barryville perched on a bluff 300 feet above the Upper Delaware River with panoramic views (what's more romantic than that?). Cuddle up by the fire in the common guest area or check out the views on the deck, then head into nearby Narrowsburg for brunch at The Heron. Once you've filled up, check out the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance, a nearby gallery that shares professional work by local emerging artists. At night, head to Bethel Woods Center for the Arts (the actual site of the 1969 Woodstock Festival). Purchase lawn seats for their summer concerts and enjoy snacks on a picnic blanket.

Keep an eye out for lots of wildlife as you hike through the pine trails of Acadia National Park (and set out early, as sunrise from the top of Cadillac Mountain is worth the early wake-up call). Then you can spend the day exploring the park's myriad of attractions, like sea cliffs formed from granite (Schoodic Byway) and biking around Eagle Lake. If you're more comfortable soaking up the Maine air from a heated car seat, consider taking a GMC Acadia for a spin. End your evening at Bar Harbor Inn or Hadley's Point Campground for a more rustic experience.

For a tropical getaway full of culture, escape with your loved one to Sandals Royal Plantation Resort featured in season 20 of The Bachelor. Each villa comes with a private pool and you'll even have your own butler to assist with drawing a bath or bringing you breakfast in bed. Wander through the River Bumpkin Farm during the day and cozy up and watch the picturesque Caribbean sunset at night. What could be more romantic than this?

Now's the perfect time of year to book your accommodations at Red Mountain Resort, as the weather's not stifling hot (like it is throughout summer) and you'll be able to enjoy most of your day outdoors. Head out for guided hikes through Snow Canyon State Park. If you're willing to venture out about an hour to Zion National Park, the two of you can test your trust levels on the Angels Landing trail (let's just say there are a lot of narrow paths, and sometimes you need a partner close by to help you traverse the moderately difficult trail). The work is tough, but get there early &mdash or at the end of the day &mdash for a sunrise or sunset view that's 100% worth the calorie burn.

Perfect for the unconventional couple, Spring Creek Ranch is the ideal spot for those seeking seclusion and romance in a unique way. The ranch's accommodations are ruggedly elegant, and the views of the Teton Mountains are breathtaking to boot. After a day of sleigh riding or hiking (your pick!), return to the ranch for a spa treatment. Once you're settled, choose from a myriad of winter activities together and explore the snowfall together.

Just 90 miles north of Baton Rouge, this bed-and-breakfast capital of the south is a foodie dream come true because, hello, it's known as "the biscuit capital of the world." But when you're not filling up on comfort food, you can visit the Natchez Trace Parkway for miles of fall foliage amidst maple and hickory trees. Bump up the romance with a horse-drawn carriage ride through the downtown area (and past an array of historic antebellum mansions, which you can also stay at) with Southern Carriage Tours, then visit Charboneau Distillery for a rum tour &mdash or Old South Winery if vino is more your style.

Couples seeking a quaint, private getaway should head to this little coastal town where you'll get your fill of boating and all things nautical (currently imagining a quiet sail cuddled in cableknit sweaters &hellip). Stay at Point Pleasant Inn, where only six suite-style rooms are available and you'll receive the individualized attention you deserve. And if you start to crave a little city slickin', you're only a short 30-minute drive from Providence and Newport, and an hour from Boston.

It's one of the top destinations for dedicated leaf-peepers (don't knock it 'til you've tried it), so after you've driven (or ridden bikes, if you want to squeeze in a workout) through the main town to get a peek at the changing foliage &mdash spend the day exploring the White Mountain Trail. There's 100 miles to choose from, seven covered bridges, a ton of roadside waterfalls, and even more scenic outlooks to relax at for lunch. If you're in for a thrill, sign up for ziplining to get up close and personal with the trees, then settle in for the evening at the Omni Mount Washington Bretton Woods for a luxurious, romantic night reconnecting.

With ideal temps year-round, thanks to the refreshing winds, fall is the perfect time to book a quickie getaway before the winter prices skyrocket (a lot of folks like to hang out there to escape rough northeast winters). Stay at Hyatt Regency Aruba Resort Spa & Casino and you'll be surrounded by blissed-out scenery all day (think swaying palm trees, the turquoise-colored water, and cascading waterfalls). Reserve a private dinner for two right on the beach &mdash and, of course, go barefoot.

There's plenty of entertainment to choose from in this town, thanks to its wide array of museums, historic homes, and theatre district. But what Providence is really known for is its to-die-for foodie scene. First there's the world-class culinary institute at Johnson & Wales, which has dished out more chefs than any other city in the country (and where couples can take classes, like beer appreciation). Then there's the myriad of choices to choose from when sampling gourmet cuisine &mdash whether you're in the mood for an upscale sit-down meal or a famous cheap-eat, if you want it, they've got it. And after you get a food baby in your belly, take a load off and relax at The Providence Biltmore, where you'll be in the heart of downtown Providence and surrounded by unique architecture.

If you're looking for a vacation straight out of a Southern movie, you won't be disappointed in The Cloister. Not only will you get private beaches to the east &mdash and gorgeous salt marshes to the west &mdash but you also have the option to get pampered at the Forbes Five-Star Spa. Rent a few bicycles during your trip and explore the secluded gardens &hellip and then maybe take a few Instagram shots kissing under the oak trees draped with Spanish moss.

Most head to the northeast when hunting down the best fall foliage views, but don't discount wine country just yet. The leaves start changing here in early- to mid-October, which just so happens to be the heart of harvest season. Stay at Timber Cove Resort, where you'll be conveniently close to the Armstrong Redwood Forests, perfect for a day of hiking. Refresh afterward at Osmosis Day Spa Sanctuary.

Book a stay at Wild Dunes Resort and you'll get to experience totally unique activities that are sure to leave lasting memories. Head into town for a visit at the Charleston Library Society, which is the third oldest circulating library in the U.S. and host to intimate concerts from the Charleston Symphony Orchestra. Or if that's not quite your style, you can always spend an afternoon at Middleton Place, home to America's Oldest Landscaped Gardens and robust flowers that bloom year-round.

If you're not quite ready to give up sandy beaches and a hefty dose of vitamin D, head to this Floridian destination for 35 miles of white sand along the Gulf Coast . Drop your bags at The Vinoy Renaissance Resort & Golf Club and make sure to stop by the Shuffleboard Club for a little friendly competition. At the end of the trip, you'll have great topics for dinner conversation that don't revolve around the kids' sports schedules, and that's always a good thing.

Make a visit to this locale and prepare yourself for plenty of wine tasting &mdash it's home to the Monticello Wine Trail Spend a day (or two &hellip or three &hellip) making your way through as many as you can, and don't forget to grab a few of your favorite bottles to break open when you're feeling nostalgic. Set up camp at the The Clifton and you can enjoy walking through 100 acres of private land, all with breathtaking mountain views. And if you enjoy another glass of vino before bed, well, we won't tell.

This enchanting little city gets scorching-high temps in summer, but cools down to a comfortable, relaxing setting come autumn, making it a perfect getaway for those looking to explore the Sonoran Desert. If you're into adventure, book a trip to JW Marriott Scottsdale Camelback Inn Resort & Spa and you'll be right next to tons of hiking, horseback riding, golfing, mountain biking, and rock climbing. Or take a breathtaking tour of the Desert Botanical Gardens during their Las Noches De Las Luminarias for a magical night of artwork, warm cider, and fun music.

For a weekend of skiing (slopes open in November!), cuddling by the fire, and sipping hot chocolate, stay at the Waldorf Astoria. If you brought the kids, occupy them with an in-room camping experience with Little Miners Camp, that includes a custom tee-pee set. It will keep their attention long enough for you to enjoy a glass of the champagne. Off the ski slopes, enjoy mountain biking, hiking, and horseback riding (there are four state parks nearby to choose from), or a brewery tour.

Star-crossed lovers belong at Post Ranch Inn, as you'll get a perfect view of the celestial skies overlooking the Pacific Coast. If you're feeling luxuriously adventurous (yep, it's a thing), choose to stay in their Tree Houses, built above tge forest floor to give you the perfect stargazing view from the skylight above your bed. While you're there, reserve a dinner spot at Sierra Mar. And once you're nestled next to the fireplace in your room, you can keep an eye out for migrating whales (the hotel supplies binoculars) as they head south for the winter.

Take camping to a whole new level &mdash yes, it really can be romantic&mdash when you book through Paws Up Ranch and select the Cliffside Camping option. You'll settle into views overlooking Blackfoot River. Visit during October for the cowboy experience workshop with lessons in roping and riding. And if you really want to go all out, nab a hot air balloon ride through the Blackfoot Valley for views you'll never forget.

Autumn is the perfect time to visit the Big Apple, as temps are cool enough to stay all day and the trees throughout Central Park are bursting with color. After you take a mandatory stroll through the various areas of the park (it's about six miles around the perimeter), you can check out The Plaza nearby, then eventually make your way downtown. People-watching is at its peak at High Line Park, and crossing the Brooklyn Bridge will take you out of Manhattan and into a whole new borough of culture.

With only one traffic light, plenty of antique shops, and 18th-cenury buildings galore, northern Virginia's horse country is where to go for easy living (even if it's only for a few days). After you've explored the quaint shops and local art galleries, head to Salamander Resort & Spa for horseback riding. If you like a little blast from the past in your vacation, stay overnight at the Red Fox Inn, a 1728 stone building decked out with Piedmont decor.

If variety is the spice of life, then Asheville and its Blue Ridge Mountains are the spiciest. To get a unique perspective of the area, go ziplining or float down the French Broad River. Or if you're looking to head indoors, take the Biltmore Bubbles Tour at the grandiose Biltmore Estate (you can book a stay here too).

If you're looking to unwind in a few small communities that are big on charm, Missouri wine country &mdash the area surrounding Hermann and Augusta &mdash is where you're headed. There are sweet boutique wineries to explore, along with a must-stop at Cave Vineyard's biscotti bar afterward. Walk off the sweet treats after with a visit to Katy Trail State Park, the country's longest rails-to-trails conversion. Spend the night at Katy Trail Bed & Breakfast, then do it all over again at another winery of your choice. Sounds nice, right?

After you've visited Millenium Park for a photo with the bean, stop by Cindy's Rooftop for a cocktail and aerial view. Laugh the night away with the comedians of The Second City, then round out the evening with delectable drinks and smooth jazz at The Green Mill Cocktail Lounge. If you're looking for luxury and elegance, consider staying at The Langham, the perfect fit for an ultra-cool couple such as yourself.

You'll step straight into a Nicholas Sparks novel when you walk through this town, and we don't mean that figuratively. The quaint area is the setting to several of the romance authors' novels, including A Walk to Remember and The Choice. You can visit the important landmarks from both films through the Ride to Remember tour with Hungry Town Tours (and score a signed copy of either book), then settle in for a waterfront meal at Front Street Grill.

Couples looking to bond in a thrilling way can book a tour with Pure Trek Canyoning. Then you can swoon over the direct view of Arenal Volcano from Mistico's Arenal Hanging Bridges &mdash and hopefully spot a monkey or two &mdash before relaxing the rest of the evening at The Springs Resort & Spa, which just so happened to host The Bachelor for Brad Womack's season (like the guy or not, the place is still gorgeous).

Enjoy the ultimate couples getaway when you hit the boardwalk and trek to Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa. Then head to the Immersion Spa and spend an afternoon in the infinity-edge lap pool. Sure, you can gamble downstairs, but that can wait &mdash a couple's massage will spice up your relationship better than a round of black jack.

If one of you is a Pisces, plan a trip to this coastal city for waterfront views that'll accompany every activity. Whether you're dining at the contemporary gastropub Sign of the Whale, taking a tour at Half Full Brewery, or rollerblading hand-in-hand at Cove Island Park, you'll never be far from water. In other words: total bliss.

You may not immediately think "romance" when Texas comes to mind, but don't cross this city off your list quite yet. After all, it was a destination city for The Bachelorette Kaitlyn Bristowe. Follow in her footsteps by booking a stay at The St. Anthony hotel, which has even had guests like Presidents Dwight D. Eisenhower and Lyndon B. Johnson, Eleanor Roosevelt, and George Clooney. It's close proximity to the River Walk gives you the perfect opportunity to stroll the stone pathways and window shop before testing your moves at Gruene Hall. Don't forget to make a pit-stop at Market Square before digging into dinner at Enchanted Spring Ranch.

Travel back in time when you visit this city and stop in for a drink at Manifesto, one of the top speakeasy-styled cocktail lounges in the area. We suggest a few sips before heading to dinner in the Country Club Plaza, then catching a show at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts. Nestle in for the night at The Fontaine.

Outdoorsy couples don't need to dabble in other destinations &mdash this North Carolina and Tennessee border has everything you need for a combo of swoon-worthy scenery and breathtakingly good fresh air. Pack a picnic and enjoy lunch alongside any of the waterfalls found in Great Smoky Mountains National Park, then saddle up for a horseback riding tour to discover areas you can't reach on the walking trails. A fireside couples massage at the Spa at Pine Mountain is the perfect way to unwind before ending the day with a tasty glass of sweet tea.

It's worth bundling up a bit and heading to Churchill, a little town in this northern part of Canada. Why? It's prime season for polar bear spotting (book a tour with Lazy Bear Lodge), and this place is one of the few human settlements that allows people to check 'em out in the wild. Going anytime between October and November is best, but some say that if you try your luck at a mid-to-late November trip, you may spot the northern lights.

Get ready to think a bit outside the box when you visit Portland &mdash there's no need to stick to the typical styles of "romance" here. So if you're open-minded, start your vacation with BrewCycle, where you'll pedal from brewery to brewery on a group bike. After that, go above the trees with the Portland Aerial Tram, which takes passengers 500 feet above the city for some pretty stunning views. Then refuel with a treat at Voodoo Doughnut.

When you first arrive, go straight to Lulu's Chocolate Bar to get you in the Southern spirit. If you're a sporty couple, then it's best you play a few rounds on the gorgeous golf courses during your stay &mdash otherwise we suggest a fun Segway tour (to channel your inner kid) or a visit to Flannery O'Conner's Childhood Home. After you check in to cozy accommodations &mdash like Azalea Inn and Gardens or Green Palm Inn &mdash hop on board a sunset dolphin cruise on Tybee Island.

Go on a warm-weather getaway to this Caribbean island and expect plenty of the three S's: sun, sand, and surf. With crystal-clear water, there's no way you won't want to be in it &mdash so head to Big Blue Unlimited for a kayaking tour through the Mangroves. Or sign up for the Horseback Ride 'n' Swim tour. Unwind at West Bay Club and don't forget to grab drinks at its sister hotel, Grace Bay Club &mdash there you'll find Infiniti Bar, the longest bar in the Caribbean and first infinity-edge bar in the world.

Escape to your own private log cabin at Sterling Ridge Resort, where you'll feel like it's just the two of you on 372 acres of secluded forest. You can even paddle across their 14-acre pond or walk 5 miles of trails to check out the scenery, but if you want to venture into civilization for a bit, drive to nearby Waterbury for a tasty tour of the Ben & Jerry's Factory.

There's no need to travel halfway around the world to get a relaxing vacation in a serene setting. Go to the Midwest for a stay at Sundara Inn & Spa. Even if you don't book a package, you can enjoy the outdoor infinity pool, a Purifying Bath Ritual in the indoor bathhouse, and stroll along the quiet Meditation Trail.

You may not have the time to travel all the way to Tuscany this season, but that doesn't mean you can't get an Italian-inspired vacation. It's waiting for you at Gervasi Vineyard, where you'll stay in cozy villas complete with fireplaces, stucco walls, heated travertine floors, and rustic wooden doors and ceilings. You probably won't want to leave the property, but if you do, we recommend getting in a few rounds at Glenmoor Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course, where you'll drive the ball amidst relaxing countryside scenery.

Don't just take any old trip to the Grand Canyon &mdash make it the most gorgeous by traveling to Havasu Falls, arguably the most striking waterfall in the Canyon with a sandy beach and shady trees to help you relax while you're there. If you really want the full experience &mdash and have the money to spend &mdash consider joining a 3- or 4-day all-inclusive hiking and camping tour with Wild Trekking.

Any country music fan knows you can find love in Music City. Start the trip with a picnic in Centennial Park, then catch a concert at the Grand Ole Opry, an entertainment icon known as the home of American music. Beyond music, you can get some culture at the Frist Center for the Visual Arts and The Tennessee Performing Arts Center where you can see a play or opera while in town. Stay at the Omni Hotels & Resorts.

Imagine sipping wine by a fireplace, relaxing in a jetted tub, and watching the sunset lakefront &mdash now that's a romantic getaway and could be yours at Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel. Rent a pedal boat at South Tahoe Standup Paddle on El Dorado Beach. For dinner, go to The Loft Theater, a swanky restaurant theater-lounge combo with a magic show that's hilarious, not cheesy, and burlesque performances.

You don't have to cross an ocean to get Old World European beauty. The cobblestone streets and French architecture make Old Quebec look like they are straight out of a fairytale. A stroll down Rue St. Jean brings you to boutiques, restaurants, cafes and grocery stores, including J.A. Moisan, the oldest grocery store in North America. For an experience fit for a King and Queen, head to the Chateau Frontenac to take a picture in front of the most photographed castle. End your day at Hotel Clarendon.

This city is known for its hot air balloon festival in Autumn, where you can watch 600 basketed balloons float above this dessert town, and flamenco dancing. Start your trip with a lesson at the National Institute of Flamenco and you'll hold your love close as you sweep across the ballroom possibly for the first time since your wedding. When you're ready to quench your thirst with a cocktail, check out the Apothecary Lounge, a rooftop bar with panoramic views. End your night in bed at the Bottger Mansion.

Not the first city that comes to mind when you think of romance? Well, get off of the casino floor and you'll see a side of Vegas that's more than bachelor parties and drunken escapades. For a relaxing trip, stay at the Four Seasons, a hotel that focuses on luxury with a private outdoor pool and whirlpool, a lazy river, and poolside cabanas, and not on gambling (there's no casino or nightclub). If you're looking to see nature from the ground, take a hike through the Red Rock Canyon and stop for brunch at Andiron Steak & Sea. At night, watch the fountain display outside the Bellagio, then head across the street to Giada De Laurentiis' new restaurant Giada at The Cromwell hotel for Italian. Finally, end the night with a Cirque du Soleil show that you'll never forget.

It's totally normal to leave the kids behind and fall in love at Disney World. Just look at those fireworks! For a more adult-friendly visit, check into the Waldorf Astoria Orlando and enjoy a cocktail at the Aquamarine pool bar and grill and dinner at Bull & Bear. Head through the crowds to the Italy pavilion at Epcot where you'll find Tutto Gusto Wine Cellar, a cozy wine bar. At sunset, enjoy a glass of champaign 400 feet in the sky on the Orlando Eye. The perfect place for a kiss, and an Instagram to show your friends that you can find romance in Disney.

If you're planning a honeymoon or anniversary celebration, book a romantic getaway at the Brasstown Valley Resort & Spa, two hours north of Atlanta. In true romantic fashion, you barely need to leave your room to enjoy a weekend of luxury. Stay at the Equani Spa's private accommodation suite for all the romance you'll need. If you do need a break from the room, play golf on the resort's mountainous course, go on a guided horseback ride, and have a meal in The Dining Room.

Don't believe the hype: Greenville is more than just the new Asheville. Much like the North Carolina city, its proximity to the Blue Ridge Mountains guarantees you'll get to take in breathtaking (and totally 'grammable) fall foliage. But Greenville has managed to carve out a niche of its own thanks to its gorgeous, recently-revitalized downtown and its killer food scene. Go for a bike ride on the Swamp Rabbit Trail, then refuel at Tupelo Honey.

You don't need to cross an ocean to feel like you've been transported to Europe. Stroll along Old Montreal's cobblestone streets, where you'll spy the Basilique Notre Dame. For even more breathtaking views, locals suggest taking the Olmstead Path up to the Chalet du Mont Royal, overlooking the city below. If you have an extra day or two to play with, consider riding Amtrak's Adirondack line from New York City to your destination. The entire trip takes about 10 hours, but keep in mind that you'll be taking the scenic route.

This island town is about as chill as it gets, but it's even more relaxed throughout the month of September. Summer vacationers have gone home and the snow birds have yet to arrive, so things are relatively quiet. You'll probably want to spend most of your time on the beach, but if you're looking to mix in some culture, Key West has a rich history worth exploring. Stop by Harry Truman's "Little White House," or the home where Ernest Hemingway penned For Whom the Bell Tolls.

It's the oldest capital city in the U.S. and the third-biggest art market in the country. Oh, and it's also ridiculously beautiful. So yes: It sounds like travel brochure nonsense, but Santa Fe really does have something for everyone. However you spend your days, there are plenty of gorgeous hotels that can serve as home base. But the patio of the stunning Inn of the Five Graces, which sits on the oldest inhabited block in the country, is so pretty you'd be forgiven for just setting up camp there. It's also next door to 315 Restaurant & Wine Bar, which the Santa Fe Reporter named the city's best restaurant.

There's a lot more happening in this gorgeous port town than just pizza. Mystic, named for the Mystic River on which it sits, is just two and a half hours from New York City, but feels worlds away thanks to its quaint New England vibe. If you're headed to Mystic, lean into the charm by staying at one of the town's several bed and breakfasts the historic Inn at Mystic, once a private estate, is where Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall spent their honeymoon.

Scenic Texas Hill Country offers plenty for the adventurous couple to do come fall. Stay at the Inn at Dos Brisas which is steeped in ranch-style living and romance. Here you can take a carriage ride through the countryside, go clay target shooting or have a picnic filled with all of that famed Hill Country BBQ.

This getaway, situated along the Hudson River, is just a train ride away from New York City. It&rsquos a quaint, artsy city, with plenty to take in. Be sure to explore Main Street to check out all the shops and cute restaurants.

If quirky charm is the kind of thing that gets your heart fluttering, look no further. Whether you indulge your love of the outdoors by relaxing in Barton Springs Pool, or you just want to try out some very cool cocktail bars with live music, like Whisler&rsquos on the East Side, there's something for every couple. If you want to be in the center of the action, stay at the Hotel Van Zandt, or take in some greenery at the lush Barton Creek Resort and Spa. Stroll down South Congress Avenue and then remember to take the perfect Instagram photo at the famed &ldquoI love you so much&rdquo wall.

There Is A God, I Finally Won .

Well we took another 3 day trip to Our Happy Place and really had a good time.
Left on Sunday morning very early and had no problem at all heading down to AC with a stop off for breakfast.
Hit the Borgata at the early time of 8:30 and went to Marcey so she could check us in.
Of course at that time of the morning on a Sunday no rooms were ready so we checked our bags and off we went to play.
My first stop was at my 5 cent Jackpot Party machine and stuck a few bills in that without any results so hit the Crystal 7 5 cent machine and had no hits at all on that one.
Decided to head over to my quarter Super Duces machine and began to play that and was getting a few hits when all of a sudden I hit the 4 Duces so that made me very happy to have a hit right at the start of my trip.
Then off I go to a 50 cent Super Duces machine to try my luck and I am still playing on my comped dollars so have not dug into my bank roll yet and then I hit 5 of a kind using just one wild card so hit $400 on that.
Now I am a happy camper and off I go to see Dan who is playing Black Jack and he is down so I give him a $100 of my winnings and tell him I am going to see if the room is ready and head up and will see him later to go eat.
I go to the bell desk and they make up my keys for me and I tell them to bring up the bags and off to the room I go which is 1949.
Now this room is way down the end of the hall and I am thinking I hope this is not to long of a walk for us cause Dan is still using a cane cause he has to have a total hip replacement on Feb. 22 and I have arthritis in the ankle which is sore all the time, sometimes worse than others.
But I did not want to wait for a room closer to the elevator so took this.
Room is very nice and I un pack and stick our clothes away and get the ice bucket filled and all that stuff and then stick my money in the safe and back down I go to the casino
Played awhile and could not hit a thing and was just throwing my money away at this point so went and found Dan and we go off to eat at the Borgata brunch.
Usually I am not a brunch type person cause I am a very picky eater and I cannot mix breakfast and lunch items.
I know it sounds silly but that is just me.
I had all lunch items and had some steak, ham and beef all of which were very good.
Had a few side items and really enjoyed it all
After eating went up to the room to rest some and Dan watched football.
I went back down to the casino around 4:30 and played so many machines and could do nothing but lose and lose some more so at 7 gave up and headed back to the room cause this was my TV night.
Watched Deal Or No Deal, Grease show where they are picking new stars for the show and then watched the Apprentice.
I skipped Without A Trace and washed up and headed back down to the casino and went to Super Duces but had no luck and so headed to Regular Duces Wild and no luck there either so finally went to 5 cent Jackpot Party (older version) and tonight it was hitting good so played there and got to the bonus round quite a few times and finally cashed out $400 and called it a night at 12:30.

They had some rain and snow during the night and when I got up around 6 it did not look to good out there but then again I could not see to well since it was still dark so back to bed I go.
Got up again around 7:30 and it did not look to bad now and cars were moving pretty good.
We took our showers and got dressed and headed down for the car but stopped to see Marcey.
She was busy but did ask her how the roads were and she said well salted
Had no problem getting over to Bally's which is were we parked and off to Gertie's we go but to the one in the walk way between Bally's and the Claridge.
We had bagels and muffins and I used comps to pay for it.
I had called Caesar's a few nights ago and told them I still was not getting any mail sent to me with offers and what is the problem
I have not gotten a coupon offer since July of 2006.
On my last trip in December I went to the TR desk at Harrah's and told them about my problem and the girl said it was clicked NO MAIL but she fixed it.
Well when I called this lady said it was still kicking back not to send me mail so she fixed it at all the casinos and now I should began to get offers again.
I said well what about my offers now and she said I had buy one get one free buffets but needed the coupon.
I said WELL what do I do and she said she will give me $10 in comps cause she cannot send me a coupon.
I took it but really think I got ripped off since I had no coupons sent to me in so long but really just so it gets fixed.
Anyway after we ate we split up and I played some in Bally's for a friend of mine and then headed over to Caesar's which I like much better than Bally's and I personally do not play much at all anymore in there.
I did not do to good this trip in Caesar's but had fun anyway.
I played Super Jackpot Party which I love and got some play and then found a open machine on the penny Top Dollar but oh it was a stinky machine and I could not do a thing so finally gave up on it.
Played penny All that Glitters and got some play but in the end lost on all the machines there.
Back at Bally's had a little time till I met Dan so I broke down and stuck a $10 in Cleo and got some play on her but lost there to.
Met up with Dan and he had a winning trip where I lost but we both had fun and decided to go to White House sub and pick up a sub for lunch.
I buy the entire sub and back we go to the Borgata and we shared half of the sub only for lunch.
I said, I keep forgetting how BIG these subs are so we will have the other for dinner and don't need to go out anywhere for dinner.
Went down to play some and lost, lost and lost some more
Back to throwing my money away again.
I am just walking around cause I am having no luck and I walk past this Super Jackpot Party machine and do a double take and walk back.
YES I did see right it is a PENNY machine. I swear it is the ONLY penny Super Jackpot Party machine in the place and if not it is the only one I have seen.
I thought they were all 5 cent machines in the Borgata.
I have seen penny one's in other casinos but not the Borg.
I also spot a penny Jade Monkey right around the back of this Jackpot Party machine so I play both of them and have some play but in the end it took my money.
Had to finally head to the room cause I was out of money.
Ate the other half of my sub and we shared a muffin we brought back from Gertie's.
We watched some TV and then got dressed and headed down to the comedy show.
This was one of the best shows we have seen in ages.
All 3 of these guys were to funny and we had a bunch of good laughs and really did enjoy the show.
After the show played some and just lost some more so finally put my tail between my legs and headed to the room.

This morning we got up around 8 and took our showers and ate in the room.
I had a pound cake and Dan a muffin and I made hot tea for us.
I then went for new ice for the ice bucket and could not get back into the room
Dan left me in and I tried his key which worked but not mine.
I head down to the bell desk where I had the keys made on Sunday and here the girl did not make the keys the same.
I had 2 nights and Dan had 1 night but they linked the nights so we did not have to check out and check back in but the girl did my key for 2 nights and Dan's for 3.
Stupid but we all make mistakes and she re did the keys and all was fine again.
Down to the casino we go and we both play 5 cent Joker Poker and Dan did lousy so he leaves to play Black Jack and I stay till I lose my money.
I played a few different machines and could do nothing so finally take a break and go to Bread and Butter for hot tea
Played some more with no luck so head back to the room to rest.
Then we go off to the lunch buffet and enjoyed that.
Had a slice of turkey which was good and I am not a fan of turkey.
Also had beef
Played on the Duces Wild machine again after lunch cause the Duces were up to $350 by then and I had been trying since Sunday to hit them but just kept losing my money.
Finally I hit them for the $350 so really made my day.
Back up to the room in time to watch NCIS which was good and then took my shower and headed back down for my last trip at playing.
Dan was played out so he stayed in the room tonight.
I was getting played out myself but had to give it one last whirl and sure glad I did.
First went to my Super Jackpot Party penny machine and it was hitting very well and played there for over a half hour and cashed out a $100.
Took the ticket and walked around trying different machines and hitting nothing.
Finally down to like $30 so decided to just go back to the penny SJP and stay there.
Well there was a guy there so could not get back on it and decided to just try a 5 cent Super Jackpot Party machine.
I was in the row all by myself, not another soul around and it is not really that late, like about 11:30 maybe.
Well I am just playing all 20 lines and 1 nickel per line and the machine is hitting like hell but every time I up the bet per line I cannot win a thing so I thought to hell with it, just play the 1 coin per line and leave it at that.
I hit the bonus round at least every 5 minutes and that is not a lie.
I am singing and dancing in my seat and having one hell of a good time.
I get the pooper and hit a party saver to boot, I swear to God, I just cannot lose on this machine.
For over a hour I play on it and had myself the best time I have had in ages.
I was talking to the stupid machine even.
I bet those guys in the eye in the sky where up there laughing their butts off watching me and guess they thought I was drunk.
Finally the machine turned cold so I cashed out a BIG $260 and called it a trip.

Back up in the room I tell Dan what a fun night I had and counted up my loot and ended the trip up $200.
Now that is not a big win by any means but I hardly ever win so for me that was a good trip.

Got up today, took our showers and headed to the breakfast buffet and sure was good as it usually is.
Packed up and were on the road by 9:30.
Hit no traffic and got home and now have to rest up and do a few loads of wash
We had another great trip and Dan ended up even so we both did good.
We hope to get back down the end of March but it depends on how Dan does with his surgery.
He did super with his knee replacement and the doc said he thinks he will do good with the hip replacement.
So that is our trip and hope you enjoy.
This time I did not break the trip down like I do sometimes but this time I decided to ramble on .
We also did not use the pool this trip and that is because we spent so much time in the casino playing.

The first half of each episode consists of a team challenge, in which the winning side gets a reward of some sort of leisure activity, while the losing side has to clean up and prepare both kitchens, as well as some activity that is not so pleasant. Afterwards, the teams compete in executing a dinner service, during which Ramsay can impose additional punishments or kick chefs out of the kitchen. The losing team(s) nominates chefs to be considered for elimination. Ramsay can also nominate chefs, and ultimately sends a chef home. At six chefs left, the teams merge to one, and the chefs compete as individuals.

Gordon Ramsay returned as the head chef, sous chefs Scott Leibfried of blue team and Gloria Félix of the red team, and Maître d' Jean-Philippe Susilovic as well.

16 chefs competed in season five, and were initially separated by gender.

Three hundred chefs from all over America are welcomed to the new season of Hell's Kitchen, but only 16 chefs were called down and Ramsay tells them to cook him their signature dishes. The winner of this season will become head chef in Fornelletto at the Borgata in Atlantic City.

Signature Dishes: For once, half of the chefs received positive to average reviews. Carol, Ji, Andrea, Coi, Paula and Ben all impressed Ramsay with their dishes, while Wil and Robert received good feedback for taste, but were criticized for presentation and thin sauce respectively. LA's fish and chips were called "terrible" and Ramsay spit out Colleen's chicken enchiladas and Lacey's chicken and blackberry dish (Ramsay also berated Colleen for telling him she taught manners too when he spit it out). He also hated Danny's grilled bananas, deemed Charlie's dish a joke, graded J's dish an "F", and berated Giovanni for not being able to cook rice. Seth's honey-flavored ratatouille received the worst review, and when Seth laughed, Ramsay threatened to eliminate him on the spot.

Pre-Service: The teams were each told to give themselves a name. The men named themselves "Blues Brothers", while the women originally named themselves "Team Saffron", but changed it to "Spice Racks" after being called out by Ramsay. Charlie was instructed to shave prior to service. During prep, the men became irritated with Seth's lack of basic skills and slow work. In the red kitchen, Lacey walked out of prep due to feeling overwhelmed and disrespected by the rest of her team. Because of this, she prepared the dessert station poorly, and, minutes before service, Lacey and Coi got into an argument over the lackluster preparation of the desserts section. Coi angrily revealed this to Chef Ramsay when he asked what was wrong, saying "this station is fucked up", however Ramsay successfully managed to defuse the situation.

Service: Carol and Giovanni were chosen as waiters. In the blue kitchen, Giovanni struggled as a waiter, forgetting orders on numerous occasions. Ben and Robert served raw spaghetti (the latter was also called out for screaming over Ramsay when a ticket was being announced), but they managed to get the refire accepted and keep appetizers going out at a steady rate. Unfortunately, Danny overcooked scallops and then talked back to Ramsay after the latter scolded him, but Robert managed to calm him down and keep him focused. Seth, on meat, served raw and mangled lamb by attempting to resear it after slicing it, and Wil burnt gnocchi while falling behind on garnish, needing Robert, Ben, Charlie and Seth's help. A power outage happened during service, causing the kitchens to come to a halt, but Carol did very well as a waiter as she used this opportunity to give the customers alcohol. In the red kitchen, Lacey served raw scallops, and Colleen was scolded for patronizing the other chefs with needless instructions. She further angered Ramsay by putting mascarpone into an order of lobster spaghetti, despite the recipe not calling for it, cooking too much spaghetti at once, attempting to cook an order of spaghetti in a dirty pan, and accidentally putting sugar into a risotto instead of salt, leading to Ramsay calling it the worst risotto he had ever tasted. After customers began walking out, Ramsay shut both kitchens down. Ramsay gathered the customer comment cards, and the women won after Carol received an 88% above average customer rating, compared to 90% below average for Giovanni, and Ramsay declared Giovanni "the worst waiter in the history of Hell's Kitchen".

Elimination: Seth and Wil were nominated. Though all the men were sick of Seth's ineptitude, immature behavior and lack of basic skills and wanted him gone, Ramsay eliminated Wil for nominating himself, lacking Seth's passion, and poor performance on the garnish station.

Team challenge: The contestants were awakened early in the morning by a marching band, and were greeted outside by Chef Ramsay and two piles of garbage bags containing the discarded food from last night's service. Unlike seasons 2 & 4, where contestants had to sort through the trash, Ramsay ordered the contestants to fish scallops out of two large crates and carry them to the kitchen, leading to the day's team challenge of cleanly shucking as many scallops as they could in fifteen minutes. Andrea was told by Ramsay to sit out in order to even out both teams. The women went first. Carol scored eight, Paula scored only one, Coi scored six and Colleen scored five. LA, Ji, and Lacey scored eight, four and three respectively, the latter of which caused Lacey to become agitated. The women successfully shuck a total of 35 scallops. For the men, Ben scored only three, Danny scored nine and Giovanni scored an impressive thirteen of his fifteen scallops. Robert scored five, Charlie scored only two and Seth scored three, tying the score at 35-35. Last up was J. His first five scallops were rejected but his sixth - and last - passed, eking out a 36-35 victory for the men.

Reward/punishment: The men flew in a helicopter to Catalina Island, but Robert was forced to take a ferry due to his weight. While on a submarine ride, Seth demonstrated a level of knowledge of Gordon's personal life to the point that the guys jokingly believed that Seth was stalking him. When Robert finally arrived, with the long trip causing him to miss out on the day's events, it was time for the group to head back. Meanwhile, the women spent the day prepping a raw bar for the night's service. After the challenge, a dejected Lacey had retreated to her bunk in tears after being called out by Ramsay for her substandard performance (even though Paula had performed the worst for the women). Ji attempted to talk Lacey out of her funk, but to no avail. Following an argument between Lacey and Carol over Lacey's histrionics, Lacey claimed illness and remained in bed, not showing up in the kitchen until six hours into the punishment.

Service: Only thirty minutes before the start of service, Ji suffered an ankle injury after slipping on some oil that left her participation in doubt, but after receiving treatment she announced to Chef Ramsay that she would be taking part in the service. Robert and Paula were assigned as raw bar servers Robert's amiability impressed Jean-Philippe and the customers. Charlie undercooked and under seasoned a risotto and astonished Ramsay when he admitted he had never cooked one before, but Ben was able to bail Charlie out with his replacement. However, Charlie was soon in hot water again after he and Seth forgot to include lobster in the lobster spaghetti. Danny impressed Ramsay with his perfectly cooked lamb, but Ramsay got angry at Giovanni for delivering an undercooked salmon to the pass. However, thanks to Danny, the men were able to keep serving entrées at a steady rate. In the red kitchen, Carol got overwhelmed on appetizers and produced a risotto that stuck to the pan, but, thanks to Andrea taking control of the station, the red team managed to produce acceptable appetizers. Unfortunately, Colleen struggled on the fish station as she first burned three orders of scallops, forcing Lacey to jump in on Ramsay's orders and show her how to cook them. Colleen then later burned the outside of a piece of salmon and simultaneously left the inside raw, while also forgetting a John Dory on the same ticket. This led Ramsay to furiously question her credentials as a culinary instructor, and when she burned yet two more orders of salmon, Ramsay threw her out of the kitchen, demoting her to the raw bar and replacing her on the fish station with Lacey while bringing in Paula to help Coi on meat, after which things picked up. Ji's injury hobbled her throughout service, though she still performed well. To make things interesting near the end, Ramsay gathered both teams and declared that whoever first completed service was the winner. Both sides were neck-and-neck until Carol stalled the women on a dish that everyone else was ready for, allowing the men to emerge victorious.

Elimination: Colleen and Lacey were nominated. In a deleted scene included on the DVD release, the others attempted to persuade Carol to nominate herself in place of Colleen despite the latter's dreadful performance, hoping to ensure Lacey's elimination despite regarding Colleen as their worst cook, but Carol refused on the grounds that it could result in her being axed for costing her team the win. After Colleen and Lacey plead their cases for staying and before Ramsay could make a decision, Ji - who had admirably completed the dinner service in spite of her injury and was subsequently restricted to a wheelchair - announced to Ramsay that she wished to withdraw from the competition, fearing her physical state would be a hindrance to the women's success. She had lamented this earlier to her teammates right after the end of service. Andrea declared to Ramsay that a hobbled Ji was still far more effective than Colleen or Lacey, but Ramsay honored Ji's request and allowed her to leave, thus reluctantly sparing Colleen and Lacey from elimination. He then lauded Ji personally for her effort and her "phenomenal" performance, while allowing her to keep her jacket as a token of her bravery (this was the first time Ramsay had let a contestant keep their jacket, it became much more common in later seasons). After she bid a tearful goodbye to her teammates, she was wheeled by Andrea out of Hell's Kitchen, with the men giving her a farewell standing ovation for her gritty performance. Ramsay then called on the remaining contestants to draw from Ji's perseverance, which, he said, demonstrated "courage at its best." Despite withdrawing from the competition due to injury, she got her picture burned instead of the traditional coat hook and burning sequence unlike Vanessa Gunnell from season 4.

Team challenge: Both teams were awakened at six the next morning by the ringing of cowbells from sous chefs Scott and Gloria, and were taken on a field trip to a meat processing plant, where Scott showed the contestants how the meat was butchered and what parts of the cattle produced specific cuts. Back in the kitchen, the team challenge was to correctly label several cuts of meat, then attach the signs identifying the cuts to the proper locations on color-coded cow statues. J and Colleen got their teams off to good starts with five correct cuts out of eight on their respective statues, but then Seth and Lacey caused two caused major setbacks for their sides, effectively forcing both teams to start over. Ben eventually labeled all of the cuts correctly, giving the men their second consecutive challenge victory. Paula had the distinction of successfully completing both parts of the challenge for the women, but had been beaten to the task by the men both times.

Reward/punishment: The men flew to Sunstone Winery in Santa Ynez, California, where they enjoyed a wine tasting followed by a steak dinner. The women stayed behind to butcher two large sides of beef after hauling both into the kitchen. In addition, Scott presented them their lunch consisting entirely of offal, leading Lacey to vomit and cause a chain reaction of LA and Andrea upchucking while the others plugged their ears. Andrea, clearly traumatized by the repulsive meal and her having vomited multiple times as a result, desperately made the women promise to bond together and try harder to avoid future punishments.

Service: Hell's Kitchen opened for its first-ever "steakhouse" service, split into two two-hour seatings with one team cooking and the other serving, and vice versa. Robert was determined to have a good service, as it had coincided with what was to be his wedding day. During the first seating, Ben, misinterpreting a command from Ramsay, prepared six orders of dessert before any appetizers had been served, while Charlie struggled to keep up on the fish station and was oblivious to his cooking cloth catching fire, which Scott had to put out. Giovanni had multiple steaks come back from the dining room for being undercooked and overcooked (made even worse due to the fact he was an executive chef at a steak house) and eventually ran out of filets. Seth was ordered by Ramsay to cut more, but he then over butchered a tenderloin, wasting a great deal of meat in the process, and tried unsuccessfully to hide the scraps from Ramsay. The red team was slow to get orders to the kitchen, and Lacey had to return some appetizers due to not telling the diners what was on them while she also forgot about some of her tables on entrees, which put the blue kitchen behind. Ramsay ended the first seating after Giovanni revealed he was four minutes away on a New York strip, as their time limit was up. During the second seating, the red team got off to a slow start with Colleen losing track of the appetizers and Coi serving raw shrimp, but entrees ran smoothly as Andrea, showing no ill effects from yesterday's punishment, had all her steaks approved by Ramsay. However, Ben, Seth, and Giovanni nonetheless returned some of the steaks to the kitchen, but Ramsay confirmed that they were all cooked correctly to order and accused the men of deliberately writing incorrect tickets in an attempt to sabotage the women, which Seth admitted to in a confessional. The men, in turn, had felt the women intentionally took far too long in submitting their orders during the first service. Charlie also struggled in the dining room as he forgot which tables he had taken orders from and then dropped food onto one table. In the end, despite Andrea's strong performance, the women fell just three tables short of completing service within the time limit, due to Carol mistakenly cooking two New York Strip instead of two filet mignon. In the post-service mortem, Charlie and Lacey were named the worst servers on customer comment cards. The red team were named the winners.

Elimination: Seth and Charlie were nominated. Despite Seth's horrendous butchering of the filet, falsely accusing J of lying about the nominees, and annoying Ramsay and his teammates with an excessively long plea, Charlie was eliminated for his lack of progress over three services, as well as having been the men's weakest performer in both the kitchen and the dining room, with Ramsay feeling he was not ready to be a head chef.

Team challenge: Both teams cooked a special breakfast service for a group of 100 young football players and cheerleaders. Colleen became distracted by the cheerleaders, forcing Ramsay to order her back on her station, while Coi burned several pancakes. The men had an early lead but squandered it after Seth stumbled on scrambled eggs that he claimed were inspired by one of Ramsay's recipes. This gave the women their first challenge victory of the season. Ben and Danny later got into a heated argument in the dorms after Danny had boasted that he was the strongest cook on the men's team.

Reward/punishment: The women went camping for the day at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel. The guys faced the arduous task of cleaning up both the dining room and kitchens in addition to prepping both sides for tonight's service. However, they failed to finish the red kitchen's prep by the time the women returned, due to Danny and Robert plotting to get Ben out.

Service: The women were missing their tomato butter sauce, which was supposed to have been made during the men's prep Chef Ramsay suspected sabotage, and his suspicions were only furthered when the sauce that Ben gave them was far too salty, leading to Danny properly preparing a new batch. Giovanni lagged on boiling the water for spaghetti, and a Caesar salad prepared by J included the butt from a head of lettuce, infuriating Ramsay. Ben cut the lamb chops too thinly, and when Ramsay asked Danny how long on the mashed potatoes, Danny did not respond immediately, causing Ramsay to threaten to throw him out. Seth proved to be the worst performer of the night as he undercooked some scallops, didn't pay attention when Ramsay called out a ticket, then was caught by Ramsay wiping a pan with a soiled cloth that he had just previously used to wipe his face. In the red kitchen, Coi pre-made pasta instead of cooking it to order, prepared two underdone lobster spaghetti that were short on lobster, then dropped one of the pans containing the replacements. LA and Colleen conflicted on the meat station, due to the latter's inexperience, sending up poorly trimmed wellingtons and cooking one order of beef Wellingtons too many. Ramsay finally had enough and declared both teams as losers, then sent the teams upstairs to decide which two members from each side should be up for elimination.

Elimination: Before asking for the nominees, Ramsay brought up the butt of lettuce to J, saying "that's how reputations got destroyed within minutes - butthead!". When Danny revealed the first nominee was Seth and the second nominee from the men was Ben, Ramsay's response implied they should've nominated J. When Lacey revealed the nominees were Colleen and herself, Ramsay was shocked that Coi wasn't nominated (she had actually attempted to nominate herself, but Carol persuaded the other women to nominate Lacey instead) but took Lacey anyway, as Coi had openly admitted her mistakes. After listening to the pleas, Ramsay sent Ben back in line and eliminated Seth for being a consistently terrible performer, much to the relief of the men.

Team change: Lacey was transferred over to the men's team, as the men were now three members down, and also because most of the women made it clear that they were not willing to continue working with her.

Team challenge: Both teams visited an Asian supermarket, where they purchased the ingredients needed for Asian-fusion dishes with limits of only 25 minutes to shop and $100. The mandatory ingredients consisted of one type of seafood, poultry, and meat, and both teams had an hour to prepare the dishes. Each dish was judged by Chef Ramsay and Epicurious editor-in-chief Tanya Steel. The red team's poultry dish, presented by Carol, was felt to be dry, while Robert's for the blue team was praised and earned a point. For the seafood dish, the red team earned a point with their "perfectly cooked" dish compared to the blue team's dish, which was oversalted. For the final dish, Andrea's dish was overwhelmed by spice, but the beef was cooked perfectly, while the blue team's dish had a good concept, but was ruined by the dish being undercooked. In a tough decision, Tanya gave the point to the red team, meaning the red team won the challenge 2-1.

Reward/punishment: The red team's winning dishes were featured on the Epicurious website. The women also spent the day sumo wrestling in oversized sumo suits, which included Ramsay taking down Jean-Philippe to everyone's amusement, and later imbibing on sake. The blue team made fortune cookies and folded origami for tonight's service. Lacey, having drawn the ire of her new teammates almost immediately at the outset as she had previously done with the red team, got back in their good graces when she successfully assisted the men with the origami.

Service: In addition to the regular customers, the night's patrons included a group of sumo wrestlers, both of whom ordered one of everything on the menu Ramsay split it down the middle between the kitchens. The teams enjoyed a strong start on appetizers fueled by Giovanni and LA's risottos, while Lacey surprisingly emerged as a leader on the blue team with a strong performance on garnish, but the meat station was a wreck on both sides: J undercooked his Wellingtons because the oven fan was on low, sent raw chicken to the pass and then forgot an order of lamb on a later ticket. In the red kitchen, Ramsay discovered a stash of discarded burnt wellingtons hidden underneath Andrea's station Andrea then became overwhelmed and stalled the red kitchen's progress, giving inconsistent timings to Carol on fish. In addition, Colleen was also scolded for leaving the oven door open when there were beef Wellingtons in there. Robert wasted a lot of food while preparing his dishes, due to not wanting to take anything up if he didn't feel it was adequate, and angered Ramsay further by not responding when Ramsay repeatedly addressed him as "Bobby," for which Robert mooned the confessional room camera during an interview while telling Ramsay to "kiss my ass." The final straw was when Colleen's pear dessert was returned because both the pear and the pastry were raw. With service a lost cause and Ramsay refusing any more returned dishes from Jean-Philippe, the kitchen was closed, with Ramsay calling it the worst performance so far. In a private meeting after the service, Robert explained that he did not respond to "Bobby" because that was the name of his abusive father and that it brought back painful memories from his childhood. Ramsay apologized and replied that he would respect Robert's wishes, adding that it would not have happened had he known about it beforehand. Giovanni and LA were selected as the best of the worst for their teams and were tasked with choosing a person for elimination, though Lacey was also singled out for praise for her leadership and strong performance.

Elimination: Giovanni nominated J while LA chose Andrea. Ramsay appeared to disagree with Giovanni's decision, heavily implying that he thought Robert should have been chosen instead, but he accepted the two nominees after Giovanni explained his reasoning that Robert recovered from his mistakes that night better than J. However, he ordered both J and Andrea back in line and told Robert to wake up. Instead, Colleen was axed on the grounds that, after five terrible dinner services, Ramsay could no longer tolerate her constant mistakes, but, as she took off her jacket, he praised her tenacity and fight and told the remaining contestants to follow that example.

Team challenge: Hell's Kitchen would be hosting a bar mitzvah for the first time, about which Ben, being of Jewish heritage, was particularly enthusiastic. For the team challenge, the chefs had to create gourmet versions of chicken soup, brisket, and burgers, the favorite foods of Max Reuben, the young guest of honor. Giovanni won the soup challenge over Andrea, while LA won with the brisket over Ben. Max liked both Robert's and Carol's burgers, but chose Robert's only because he didn't like blue cheese (which the team had warned Carol about earlier), giving a 2-1 win to the blue team.

Reward/punishment: The blue team were treated to a day at Skin Haven spa while the red team had to set up the dining room complete with a basketball court and dance floor while the flamboyant emcee Francisco was brought back for a third go-round in Hell's Kitchen, much to Jean-Philippe's annoyance and disdain. Carol and Andrea sniped at each other throughout the punishment. During service, the red team received their second part of the punishment where they had to lift Max during the Hora.

Service: Andrea started off roughly on appetizers when she didn't have enough mushrooms in her risotto, but soon got back on track. The women were then summoned to the dining room for the second part of their punishment, which was carrying Max on a chair during the celebration dance, before returning to the kitchen. Max's entrees were to be served first on Ramsay's orders, but Coi first forgot to bring the raw burgers into the kitchen then struggled to cook them she first brought them up cold due to LA's suggestion and then got overwhelmed when the rest of her team swarmed her station. Fortunately, she managed to bring up acceptable burgers, but her problems on the meat station continued as her first brisket servings were also undersized, and LA's help proved largely ineffectual. In the blue kitchen, Lacey had trouble heating up the briskets and conflicted with her team, J forgot to present a salad with no dressing, and Ramsay criticized Danny for serving food on dirty plates, telling him to clean up his workstation (Danny thought it wasn't his fault as the plates were getting dirty as they were being garnished along the line). In the dining room, Francisco was carrying a cake for Max but dropped it when he bumped into Jean-Philippe, angering the latter. At the end, both teams completed service and Ramsay presented Max with a special surprise: the Harlem Globetrotters. During cleanup, the hostilities between Carol and Andrea continued, as Carol said that she had wanted to punch Andrea in the throat she insisted she made the remark in jest when Andrea called her out on it during deliberation on the patio. The blue team won for their level of consistency during service.

Elimination: Andrea was chosen as Best of the Worst, much to the disgust and confusion of her team. However, Andrea struggled to come up nominees for elimination, admitting to Ramsay that she didn't like to blame people for their mistakes when she was just as responsible as some of them. Ramsay became irritated that Andrea hadn't made her decision, so she quickly nominated LA, feeling that she had yet to perform as more than a line cook, and Coi for her awful performance that night. As according to plan, they, along with Carol, declared Andrea as the worst however, Paula named Coi instead which led to Coi being the next chef eliminated due to her mistakes on the meat station, though she received praise for her attitude.

Team change: Before the start of the challenge, Chef Ramsay transferred Giovanni to the red team, which was two members short after Lacey had been transferred to the blue team.

Team challenge: After tasting six different salmon tapas from one of Ramsay's restaurants, the chefs had 20 minutes to make their own with leftovers from the previous service, with the teams going head-to-head. During the challenge, Lacey was unable to come up with an idea for a dish and had to take Ben's suggestion of making a bruschetta. Paula and Danny went head-to-head with their red meat-based dishes, both of them earning a point for their teams. Lacey and LA's dishes were unique, but Lacey undercooked her leeks and LA's soup was tasted foul, so neither of them earned a point. Robert won the point over Carol when she mistook balsamic vinaigrette for soy sauce. Andrea, meanwhile, managed to even out the score for both teams for her ravioli dish over J's lobster broth, which Ramsay deemed overly simple. In the final round, both Ben and Giovanni impressed with dishes, though Ramsay ultimately chose the latter's surf and turf. After the challenge, Giovanni urged his new teammates to put their differences aside and work together in the name of having a successful service.

Reward/punishment: The red team visited Hollywood Park for a day of watching horse racing with Ramsay. The blue team prepped both kitchens for that night's service, then unloaded and cleaned small tapas plates. During prep, Lacey continually complained about the amount of work and argued with her team. Due to feeling disrespected by the men, she walked out of the kitchen and threatened to quit. She was eventually talked back inside by Ben.

Service: Carol served overcooked risotto, then revealed that J overcooked both teams' rice during the prep, rendering it inedible and forcing Ramsay to take the risotto off the menu for the night. J then repeatedly sent raw and burned salmon entrees to the pass. When he eventually did manage an acceptable serving, he forgot to bring the sauce up to the pass, forcing Ramsay to pull him aside and issue him a warning behind closed doors. Ben once again struggled on the meat station he first fell behind on cooking the beef wellingtons and then served them cold while being slow to bring up the sauce. Afterwards, Ramsay found him about to cook Wellingtons on a dirty tray and threatened him with ejection. J was eliminated on the spot after overcooking scallops, with Robert taking over the fish station. In the red kitchen, Andrea and Carol were forced to eat an undercooked pasta appetizer that had been sent back (though neither could agree on whose fault it was), while LA became unresponsive for part of the service (both Ramsay and Paula commented that she looked half asleep) and cooked too many John Dory at once, all while taking offense to Ramsay calling her a "silly cow." Nevertheless, both teams completed service, with the red team finishing well in advance thanks to Giovanni's leadership and Paula's strong performance on meat, in particular earning high praise from Ramsay for a Wellington that he deemed the best-ever prepared in Hell's Kitchen. Carol and Andrea continued their feud right after the service, with Paula and Giovanni quickly tiring of the bickering.

Automatic elimination: After J overcooked the entire supply of rice for both teams during prep, struggled with salmon, and overcooked scallops, an angered Ramsay eliminated him on the spot, making him the second contestant to be eliminated during service, after Josh from Season 3. At the end of the episode, J still got the usual coat-hanging and picture-burning sequence.

Elimination: Ramsay asked the blue team the one person they do not want on their team any longer. The men picked Lacey who picked Robert due to a heated exchange on the patio between them (During this argument, Robert sarcastically stated that if she actually managed to win he would become a crack whore). Robert went into a lengthy dialogue about her holding the team hostage by threatening to walk out during prep, and that he would not accept quitters in his restaurant, while Danny and Ben both voiced similar opinions regarding Lacey's negative behavior. Ramsay then asked Ben to step forward, singling him out for picking Lacey when he felt he should have instead picked himself, after which Ben admitted that he had been the weakest performer of the night (besides the already-eliminated J). Despite expressing a desire to have Ben's jacket, Ramsay gave Ben and Lacey one more chance since J's blunders had buried the blue kitchen from the outset of service.

Team challenge: After tricking the chefs with beef and scallop tartares that were actually made with tuna and sea bass, Ramsay issued a blind taste test challenge. LA surprised Ramsay and her teammates by promptly volunteering to sit out in order to even the sides. Ben topped Andrea 3-2, Robert and Giovanni both had zero correct answers, then the red team rebounded with Carol topping Lacey 3-1. Paula and Danny, again going head-to-head in a challenge, were tasked to identify ingredients in Ramsay's minestrone soup recipe. Danny quickly got the first three ingredients, though Paula rebounded to identify the last three, earned the red team an 8-7 victory.

Reward/punishment: The red team was treated to a TV Guide photoshoot inside the restaurant while the blue team had to prep both kitchens for the night's service in addition to preparing lunch and hors d'oeuvres for the red team. During the shoot, Ben accidentally spilled champagne after a flashbulb had startled him, amusing the red team.

Service: Actors in attendance included Eric McCormack sitting at the blue dining table and Robert Patrick at the red table. Paula made a rare mistake by bringing a poor risotto to the pass, but redeemed herself with the replacement. Robert, with some help from Ben, energetically pumped out appetizers, during which he ended up splitting his pants. However, the blue team was affected by a hapless Lacey panicking on the meat section and not knowing when the dishes would be ready. After Lacey's pan caught fire, Ramsay pulled her aside to get her head back in the game. When the blue entrees for Eric McCormack's table were stalled altogether afterward and Lacey then produced overly thin lamb chops, Ramsay immediately eliminated her just one week after having eliminated J mid-service for his terrible performance. Despite being a member short for the second consecutive service, the blue team rallied and completed service with only three chefs. The red team, on the other hand, struggled throughout on the back of Carol's indecisiveness and lack of communication on the meat station, which caused Andrea to overcook her John Dory and LA to have to repeatedly recook her garnish. Carol also had lamb returned from the dining room for being undercooked, and LA served cold and lumpy potatoes, with Ramsay describing her as "half-awake". With the blue team having finished their service and the red team nowhere near completing theirs, Ramsay lost his patience and shut the red kitchen down. The blue team won "by a mile", and an impressed Ramsay said he had never seen such tremendous teamwork from a team in the five seasons thus far.

Automatic elimination: Lacey's problems on the meat station continued, not helped by the fact that she continually complained she couldn't cook meat. Lacey was sent to the storage room where Ramsay warned her she was on her final straw. The final straw was sending up poorly cut lamb and Ramsay sent her back to the storage room and eliminated her, to which she agreed. She was told to say her farewells, though her team was largely unresponsive, feeling relieved Lacey had left.

Elimination: Carol and LA were nominated. While everyone (including Carol) agreed that Carol was the worst on dinner service, they conflicted on the second nominee. LA and Carol picked Andrea, but the others decided on LA. Ramsay was upset that they were unable to reach a consensus, and ordered LA, Carol and Andrea to step forward for elimination. Ramsay ultimately eliminated LA, as he felt she had been a decent performer during the course of the season, but had never truly excelled nor shown any leadership qualities. As for Lacey, no official reason (other than being addressed as "Spacey Lacey" after the service ended) was given for her departure, but at the start of episode 14, hers and LA's pictures were both burned and their jackets hooked simultaneously.

Team challenge: The teams created individual dishes, featuring the main ingredient, red king crab one dish from each team would be presented as a specialty crab dish to Chef Ramsay. The blue team chose Ben's dish (much to Danny's disdain) while the red team was conflicted between Andrea's and Paula's, eventually choosing the former's. Andrea's dish failed to meet Chef Ramsay's expectations (partially due to her desire to keep the shell on the plate, which Carol had warned about), while Ben's was better received but still failed to meet the mark, with Ramsay being annoyed at Ben's long description of his dish. As a result, Paula and Danny were asked to bring up their dishes. Both their dishes were much better received than Ben and Andrea's dishes and as a result, the blue team won in a very close finish.

Reward/punishment: The blue team headed to Santa Monica State Beach for a day of fun at the beach with Ramsay where they rode Segways before enjoying a lobster lunch at a seafood restaurant. Robert, again, suffered because of his weight, being forced to ride a bike. The red team cleaned both of the team's dorms and cooked all of the red king crabs.

Service: For this service, the teams were asked to come up with their own menus for the night. Ben insisted on pomme fondant, which Danny and Robert had no idea of or interest in, though they agreed with it anyway, while Carol insisted on potato dauphinoise, which she claimed never went wrong. Both teams had terrible dinner service Carol completely sunk the kitchen by not knowing her potato dish had to be cooked before service, which led to the entire kitchen being backed up as she fruitlessly tried to get the potatoes cooked. After Ramsay found her adding cream in an attempt to cook them, he threw out the entire batch and made the team switch to using sauteed potatoes. Giovanni had his carpaccio dish returned for being under seasoned, only for the same restaurant guest to try taking matters into her own hands by taking her second unseasoned carpaccio dish up to the pass, where she whistled to get Chef Ramsay's attention, who insulted her back to her seat. Carol continued to struggle on the meat station by undercooking steaks. In the blue kitchen, Ben served overly salty soup and admitted that he should have been tasting it and later got involved in an argument with Chef Ramsay over the pomme fondant, as Ben believed that the dish was supposed to be made from boiled potatoes, whereas Ramsay (and Scott) told him that the potatoes were meant to be sautéed in butter. Ben also improperly portioned Robert's filets before service, leading to Robert serving three steaks of different sizes. However, Robert forgot to cook an order of halibut for a table, which caused tension between him and Ben during entrees and desserts, as Ben saw that Robert couldn't keep up with the speed of the kitchen. After Carol had another steak returned for being undercooked, Ramsay ordered both kitchens to shut down. Although the red vs blue menu ended in disaster, Chef Ramsay decided on the winner based on the total reviews for each team. The red team was declared the winning team while their customer satisfaction rating was a relatively mediocre 54%, this was still much better than the 39% that the blue team managed.

Elimination: Danny was named best of the worst on the blue team as he did not make any mistakes that night and chose Ben for elimination. Ramsay instead asked Robert and Ben to come forward. However, Ramsay decided to send home the one person who gave up during service and sabotaged their team. That led to him eliminating Carol, who insisted on putting a potato dish on the menu and not only undercooked it multiple times but also did not even attempt to bounce back afterwards. This marked the first time a chef was eliminated despite being on the winning team.

Ramsay told Danny and Paula to choose who they thought was the weakest on their team and they chose Andrea and Ben. Andrea and Ben were called and told to remove their jackets, thinking they were facing elimination, when in fact they were told that everyone would be competing as a single team.

Team challenge: In the first individual challenge, each chef cooked a dish using 14 specific ingredients, including chicken, pasta, and wine. While Chef Ramsay considered all of the dishes to be delicious, he singled out Ben and Danny's dishes, with Ben's being the best. Ben then was told to pick a friend to enjoy the reward - he chose Robert, irking Danny, who had had the second best dish.

Reward/punishment: Ben took a trip with Ramsay and Robert to San Francisco where they dined at the exclusive chef's table at the One Market restaurant. The others spent the day taking deliveries. Giovanni ended up being fed up with the punishment, after breaking boxes of bottled water, and having to chase a seafood truck for being short two lobster, later to find out that the order was correct after all. He also got into an argument with Paula, who was trying to calm him down.

Service: Dinner service was a complete disaster, especially with Giovanni, Andrea, and Robert. Paula got the kitchen off to a good start by producing acceptable appetizers, but Robert overcooked scallops and cooked John Dory and bacon in the same pan, aggravating Ramsay. Giovanni struggled on the meat station throughout the night Ramsay first scolded him for repeatedly opening and closing the oven and repeatedly undercooking Ben's challenge winning dish. He also struggled to communicate properly with Andrea and Robert on garnish and fish respectively, with Andrea describing him as a stuttering mess. After improperly cooking Ben's dish again, Ramsay called him "dickface" along with numerous other insults, and Giovanni talked back to Ramsay which led to a heated confrontation between the two. Later, Giovanni placed a hot pan in the refrigerator, to cool it down, only to burn Robert's hand when he (Giovanni) picked it up and walked along the line without letting anyone know. Robert left service for a great deal of time, suffering from a second-degree burn. Ramsay caught Andrea cooking potatoes ahead of time in a cold pan. She then angered him further when she threw them away instead of saving them. Later into service, she was unable to repeat an order to Ramsay, and Ramsay only got more angry when he learned no one else in the kitchen knew what the order was. After Ramsay repeated the order to everyone, Andrea still couldn't repeat it back to him, causing Ramsay to throw her out of the kitchen into the dining room. She nearly walked out of the competition, but Jean Phillipe encouraged her to stay and fight back, and Ramsay allowed her to return to the kitchen. Ramsay put Ben on the meat station with Giovanni but that didn't make the situation any better as Ramsay caught Ben slicing the chicken and putting it back in the oven for being undercooked, thereby drying it out. After Andrea's pan caught on fire, service ended prematurely with Ramsay walking out of the kitchen in disgust.

Elimination: Paula was the strongest player of the night for her appetizers, and got to choose two chefs for elimination which were Giovanni and Andrea. While Andrea had arguably been the worst performer of the night, including not being able to recite one of the orders correctly, Ramsay felt that Giovanni's major verbal confrontation between the two of them during the service was unforgivable and eliminated him. Giovanni's coat peg and burning photo closing was featured in the recap at the beginning of episode 14.

Continued from the previous episode, Ramsay told the final five that he did not permanently shut down Hell's Kitchen. Instead, the contestants were flown to the Borgata Hotel and Casino for a multi-day trip to see their potential future place of employment. After touring the hotel, they sat down for dinner with the Borgata Hotel's vice president of cuisine. Robert left the table after a few minutes, complaining of chest pains he was taken to the hospital for observation and tests.

Withdrawal: After a few days of waiting, Robert returned to Hell's Kitchen. He reported that he had pericarditis and announced his departure from Hell's Kitchen because of his condition. Robert was asked to say his goodbyes to the final four, who were emotional at his departure, before Chef Ramsay remarked that Robert had the possibility to win. "I just want to tell you, that you have been a fantastic competitor. You've had the potential to win this competition. Do not ever, ever forget that." Unlike Ji in Episode 2, Robert had to give back his jacket to Chef Ramsay but did get his picture burned at the end of the episode. [e]

Challenge: After visiting Borgata, each of the final four presented the signature dish that he or she would serve in their restaurant, should he or she win Hell's Kitchen. Danny's dish received a lukewarm response, being praised for flavor but criticized for appearance. Andrea's tuna dish was praised overall as was Paula's, despite fears of overcooking. Ben's dish, meanwhile, was praised for presentation, but criticized for having the tails left on the prawns. Ramsay told him he was definitely not safe before commending Danny, Andrea, and Paula, but proclaimed Andrea the winner.

Reward/punishment: Andrea received one-time immunity from the next elimination. Additionally, unless there was a specific best of the best or best of the worst after the next service, she would get to decide on the nominees for elimination. No punishment was given. Ben, Danny, and Paula, however, were upset that Andrea, who presented a dish with virtually no cooking and who they constantly believe was outperformed, would last longer than one of them.

Service: Before service, Ramsay reminded Andrea of her immunity, instructing her to use it to perform well. Despite this, Andrea continually struggled on the fish station, over and undercooking various dishes and refusing to cook on full heat. Ben, likewise, struggled, forgetting several orders before sending up a cold order. He was sent out temporarily before returning, bouncing back. Paula put in a very strong performance on the meat station, only being criticized for not sending an order up when Andrea delayed her. When Andrea still was unable to produce any fish resulting in an order being sent back, Danny was asked to jump in to help her, much to his chagrin. Ramsay asked the team to come up with two nominees between Ben, Danny, and Paula.

Challenge: The chefs had to recreate Ramsay's Italian fish stew based on taste alone. Andrea came in last for mistaking halibut for red snapper and bay scallops for sea scallops, while Ben was third for adding too much saffron. Danny was declared the winner with Paula as a close second, as the former correctly used fish stock rather than water.

Reward/punishment: Danny went along with Ramsay to go fly in separate biplanes. Paula, Ben, and Andrea polished all the crystal and shampooed all the carpets in addition to preparing for that night's service.

Service: To motivate the chefs before service, Ramsay gave each chef a set of his brand of stainless steel cookware in the dorms. Service was smooth for the most part, but Ben had trouble recognizing that Ramsay wanted a "plain" salad, and kept putting croutons in. Danny lagged on the garnish station early into entrees. One customer pulled Jean-Philippe aside and told him that he wanted to propose to his girlfriend. He gave the ring to Jean-Philippe, who then gave the ring to Chef Ramsay. The wedding ring was placed on a dessert with the words "Will you marry me?" written on the plate. A dome was placed over the dessert, and as soon as the dessert was delivered, the man proposed to his girlfriend. The girl accepted, the restaurant broke out in applause and Ramsay presented the girl with a rose and congratulated the new couple personally. Service ran smoothly right until the end when Andrea ran out of Wellingtons because she miscounted them. This required Danny and Paula to find more Wellingtons in the store room and preparing them from scratch, taking an additional 15 minutes. This left Ramsay extremely disappointed at the final part of service, as it had been their strongest so far. He told the chefs to come up with one nominee for elimination.

Previously, Chef Ramsay announced that he would give a surprise to the remaining three contestants. This surprise was a visit from Paula's mother and sister, Andrea's cousin and mother and Danny's girlfriend and father.

Challenge: Each chef had 90 minutes to create dishes for each of the 100 diners—all of them Los Angeles' best chefs. Each of the diners would also determine which dish was the best and which was the worst. 76% of the chefs polled determined Danny's blackened halibut to be the worst, while 76% thought Paula's poached sturgeon dish was the best. Andrea was surprised at how beaten down Danny felt after the challenge.

Reward/punishment: Paula got a special makeover. The following morning, she and Ramsay appeared live on KTTV's Good Day L.A.. Andrea and Danny stay behind to thoroughly clean the dining area and do the laundry, as well as watch the Good Day L.A. segment, in which they were surprised by Paula's appearance.

Service: For this service, as with previous seasons, each chef would take turns at the pass, while Scott and Gloria purposely added errors to the dishes for them to spot. Paula struggled initially, fumbling an order before plating a dish with squash puree instead of carrot puree, though she rebounded and spotted spinach soup instead of watercress soup. Danny had a particularly poor start in his performance at the pass his voice broke when calling an order and he struggled to spot raw potatoes from Gloria. Andrea was rather strong during her time at the pass, including spotting various deficiencies and errors left. After she missed Scott sending up halibut instead of John Dory, she started to aggravate her team with her continual shouts and nit-picking, returning a number of dishes to sous chef Scott, who became extremely annoyed with her (even expressing a desire at one point to "punch her in the face"). Overall, there were no serious errors or returns, and the service was very successful. Chef Ramsay asked what was different about himself later that night, and after a couple of panicky responses, Ramsay pointed out that he was smiling for the first time that season (not counting, of course, his involvement in the rewards following the challenges).

Remodeling: As with previous seasons, Hell's Kitchen was split into two restaurants, with each contestant running their side and deciding the menu and decor. While Danny and Paula prepared to leave Hell's Kitchen, their relatives oversaw construction — Danny's father and girlfriend for his restaurant Paula's mother and sister for hers. Danny's restaurant was named "Velvet Hammer" as his own nickname and featured a seafood menu and decor, which many of the returning chefs deemed tacky. One of Danny's ideas, mounted fish, wasn't well received by designer John Janavs and he feared the restaurant would be more like 'Bob's Bait Shop.' Paula's restaurant was called "Sunergy", whose decor included many shades of dark orange and yellow with candles on the wall. Despite her insistence on using real candles, the fire marshal said real candles that close to the wall would be a violation of safety code so electric candles were used instead.

Challenge: Danny and Paula were flown back to the Borgata in Atlantic City, where they had 45 minutes to cook three dishes from the menus that they had created, with Borgata executives choosing the best dishes. All of this was done within view of the Borgata's 500 employees, who would eventually work under the winner. Danny won the challenge 2-1.

Preparation: Following on from the previous episode, each of the cooks working under Danny or Paula were briefed on what they would be doing for their particular restaurant. Only Ben was particularly rooting for Danny to win on his team Giovanni was annoyed at being invited back, stating he "did not care" who won, while Carol was secretly rooting for Paula. The finishing touches were given on the restaurants' decors and Chef Ramsay tasted each restaurant's sample dishes, giving advice on what to do to make them better. Paula became increasingly annoyed with Lacey on desserts, who twice curdled her creme brulees (including one served to Chef Ramsay) and continually needed Paula's assistance.

Service: Each restaurant served 50 diners, including Danny and Paula's relatives. All customers gave scores on the various aspects of their dining experience, and these were combined with Chef Ramsay's observations in determining the winner. Both Paula and Danny had nervous starts, and each team had significant weak spots. Andrea repeatedly overcooked the halibut and scallops on Paula's side (which Chef Ramsay warned her to be more vocal about), while Lacey got overwhelmed on garnish and earned even Chef Ramsay's ire by complaining that the menu was too difficult to follow. Paula herself was criticized for jumping in to help her team as opposed to spending time on the pass, though things picked up when she switched Andrea and Lacey's stations. On Danny's side, Carol overcooked lobster, Giovanni prepared salty sauce for the monk fish, and Ben was slow to deliver potatoes. Both Danny and Paula were able to rally their teams together to complete service. Although Danny finished service first, Paula did not care, as she was more concerned about the quality of the food rather than the speed at which it was served.

Winner: Immediately after the service, Ramsay announced to the cooks that "The winner of Hell's Kitchen. lives in Florida", teasing Danny and Paula, as both came from Florida. Because he felt both services were completed with excellence and stated it was the best services they ever had in any final, he decided to utilize the customer comment cards to come to a decision. After everyone was dismissed, Ramsay summoned Danny and Paula to his office, where he praised both for their hard work, and said that they both will have a wonderful career ahead of them. Chef Ramsay showed Danny and Paula the doors the one that opened determined the winner. Danny's door opened, signifying him to be the winner of the fifth season of Hell's Kitchen. [a] Paula took her defeat graciously, and was happy that Danny won in honor of his deceased mother. Danny was shown tearing up the confessional room as his mother couldn't be with him to see him win. In addition to the money and the position, Ramsay asked Danny if he knew the previous four winners had showed up that night and his picture was mounted on the wall as part of the show's new feature, the "Hell's Kitchen Wall of Fame", which included pictures of past winners.

I&aposm on the fence with this cookbook. I loved the recipes and I adore Geoffrey Zakarian. He just classes up the joint to me. The layout of the book is done well.
With his basic pantry item pictured then he includes three recipes for each item along with a finished photo of each.

My gripe with the book is that the ingredients are supposed to be mainly items that you have on hand..then the actual recipe comes along and I&aposve got nuthin.

I&aposm a big Geoffrey Zakarian fan so I was thrilled to be given this cookbook by the publisher for an honest review. I was so happy to find that its a good cookbook for home cooks at a variety of levels! It&aposs a really great resource guide as well as cookbook! I love that there is so much information offered about the variety of ingredients that the recipes utilize. There is good information AND there are good tips. I think that is a huge asset to this book.

There are approximately 3 recipes per essential ingredient so there is a lot of options available in the book! A few of my favorite recipes include -
1. All Purpose Fritter
2. Lime, Corn and Fresh Herb Salad
3. Magnificent Meatballs
4. Ricotta Gnudi with Mushroom-Garlic Butter
5. Italian Pasta Salad
6. Orecchiette with Lemon, Garlic and Parmigiano-Reggiano
7. Creamy Rice and Mushroom Casserole
8. Chinese American Fried Rice
9. Brown Sugar Pie
10. Quick Caramelized Apple Tart

All in all, I really like this cookbook and think I'll make some fantastic dishes using this great resource! I'm excited to dig in! If you like Geoffrey's style of cooking, I think this is a must buy! I definitely recommend this one! . more

My rating of this book is based on my perception of what this book was going to be versus what it actually is.

I thought this book would teach me how, if I had 50 essential ingredients on hand, I could come home from work and quickly throw together a beautiful and delicious dinner. Not so. For example, the Crispy Chicken Pillard calls for all-purpose flour (which is an essential) and salt and garlic powder (from the list of 20 "Foundation Items"). For the rest, I would need to plan ahead or quick stop by the store on the way home to pick up chicken breasts, onion powder, unsalted butter, fresh thyme, fresh rosemary, fresh garlic, smoked paprika and canola oil. Good grief.

Since the recipes are actually decent and the pictures are pretty, I'll give it two stars. . more

Geoffrey Zakarian is often a judge on Chopped which is a favorite show of mine. He isn't afraid to tell a chef the food they made is terrible, but he tempers it with suggestions of what they could do to improve if they move forward in the game. As an Iron Chef he displays a wonderful imagination and always comes up with creative uses for the theme ingredients and is very competitive and fun to watch as a contestant as well. I was happy to have the chance to review this cookbook by Chef Zakarian because I really enjoy watching him in his roles as a competitor and as a judge/mentor and I was sure I would find his advice on stocking a kitchen pantry helpful.

My Perfect Pantry: 150 Easy Recipes from 50 Essential Ingredients by Geoffrey Zakarian (with Amy Stevenson and his wife Margaret Zakarian) begins with a list of essential spices and flavorings it is helpful to have on hand in any kitchen. Of the list I was happy to see I had 16 of the 19 on hand, and one (kosher salt) was something I just had run out of and hadn't replaced yet. I felt like I was off to a good start since whole cloves and celery salt weren't everyday staples in our kitchen, but the rest of the items (like garlic powder, cumin and vanilla extract) were all spices I was comfortable using. This was a short list that made up the "ground floor" of the flavors in several recipes and that were used often in the book.

The list of 50 essential ingredients was accompanied by a page number where you found all kinds of helpful information and tips about each item in his perfect pantry. It included how long you could store the item, if it needed to be refrigerated after it was opened, and often a brief history of the food or condiment and where it originated. Chef Zakarian is also great at letting you know his preferred form of the ingredient and the reason behind his choice. For example, he suggests using tuna that is packed in olive oil to compliment its flavor and to use canned chick peas and black beans rather than the dried versions to save time and effort.

I found out tons of facts about the ingredients themselves (cinnamon bark is from an evergreen tree in the laurel family and ketchup was first sold by H.J. Heinz in 1876), and truly appreciated that the accompanying recipes were "very doable even for someone new to cooking" as the author states in his "note to the home cook" at the start of the book. Most if not all of the recipes seem approachable and there are a few that sounded so incredibly delicious I was sad that I didn't have the fresh produce and proteins needed to make them readily available. I am sure I will enjoy the almond crusted pork chops with apples, the savory spiced bean dip and the maple brown sugar rice pudding recipes when I make them. The ingredients are simple and the instructions are precise and easy to understand so I will feel confident trying my hand at them.

Of the 50 ingredients I have 31 waiting to work their magic on my pantry's shelves. There wasn't a single item that was unfamiliar to me even if I didn't have it at the moment. Of the 19 I was missing, I can honestly say there were only three I have never purchased. Those were instant espresso, white wine vinegar (I never knew these existed although I have have instant coffee and rice wine vinegar already which could be substituted for these in a pinch), and anchovies. I never imagined myself buying these salty fish. When I was a teenager I worked in a church and helped one of the priests make the most delicious Caesar salad dressing I had ever tasted. It used whole anchovies in the recipe and I am excited to buy some and try my hand at the dressing that is featured in this book. I hope it tastes as good as the one I remember, and I am excited that the suggestions will help me to branch out and try new things. There were also some really unexpected uses of the pantry ingredients. The gelatin recipes include a meatloaf that relies on the gelatin to give it texture without the use of additional binders. This and the popcorn soup and ice cream recipes were some of the biggest surprises. It will be a joy to test these out and be a little adventurous. There is also a recipe for Chicken Vinegar with cinnamon candies that Zakarian made on an episode of Iron Chef. I loved that he included these interesting and fun ideas to show the versatility of the pantry ingredients.

I am truly looking forward to shopping for some additional pantry ingredients this week and I am sure Andy will be happy for me to practice my cooking skills on these new recipes. Thank you to the kind folks at Blogging For Books for providing me with this copy to review. My husband's belly thanks you in advance!

I’m thankful for the review copy of a book that allowed me to peek into how Iron Chef Geoffrey Zakarian sets up his kitchen. Here is what he says about pantries, “The pantry is the backbone of a kitchen-the place on which every meal hinges. Serving as the tireless workhorse that supports the creation of all dishes. And the unsung hero that allows fresh seasonal ingredients to sing the pantry has a very specific character, size and even scent in each and every home. No two are alike. But no mat I’m thankful for the review copy of a book that allowed me to peek into how Iron Chef Geoffrey Zakarian sets up his kitchen. But no matter, each pantry is the starting block for any meal. And all starting blocks need a solid foundation.”

The Chef suggests stocking up on specific essential spices in small quantities and replacing them at least once a year to keeping things fresh. He first lists nineteen essential spices in alphabetical order, starting with Allspice. I liked that they included a two page color spread of all the spices he mentions pictured in small containers with the names of the spices bolded underneath the container. I found this helpful to see what the ingredients looked.

The Chef then goes on to list fifty basic essential items everyone should have in their pantry. They too are listed in alphabetical order starting with Almonds and ending with yeast. Chef Zakarian tells about the item first one is Almonds – where it comes from, how they are sold in the store listing the different forms you might encounter (he did the same with the spices). Tips on storing and other helpful tips. Then there are three very different recipes that have almonds in them. They are 1. Almond-crusted pork chops with apples 2. Grilled Salmon with Almonds Tarragon Romesco 3. Chocolate Almond Bark. Ingredient number 42 is Tea – Earl Gray 1. Earl Grey Iced Tea with Iced tea cubes 2. French Toast with Earl Grey Syrup 3. Bomboloni with Earl Grey Cream. (there are so many creative and fun dishes inside this book there are three for each item mentioned).

I really like how this cookbook is set up. I love the fact that each ingredient listed has three recipes and a color picture of the finished product. I also appreciated that the three dishes are all pictured – it’s visually appealing to have them all together - then he goes on to the next essential ingredient and recipes. I like how he gives each ingredient and recipes their time to shine.

This reminded me of the show chopped where they have the Chef’s open a basket to reveal all the ingredients inside – then they have to be creative with the ingredients in thirty minutes. I feel with this book I might have a chance to create an amazing meal with each ingredient Chef Zakerian lists and do it at my leisure – not under the pressure of 30 minutes. I feel with this book I can begin to think outside the basket and use every day ingredients in fresh and creative ways my whole family will love.

Chef Zakarian goes on to say, “I find that having a well-stocked, well-cared-for pantry makes all the difference in the end result. I have a saying, “I would rather be looking at it then for it.” …you don’t need a large pantry to have success in the kitchen…I have a strong belief in the basics. I like natural ingredients prepared in ways that enhance their inherent flavors…I don’t keep an overly stocked refrigerator and freezer, and I try to get to the grocery a few times a week for anything fresh…you can definitely cook without a refrigerator, but it is nearly impossible to create a meal worth eating without a pantry.”

I can’t wait to try ALL 150 recipes. They have easy to find ingredients, the recipes are eye appealing and the instructions are easy to follow with not a lot of steps. My husband looked over this book (since we both like to watch Chef Geoffery Zakarian in the cooking channel) and said that he wants to make (not just try) several of these recipes (a win win for both of us). This book is a keeper! I’m excited about the cooking and eating fun my family will have in the months to come! This books a keeper and one I’ll be referring to often.

I received a free copy of this book from the Blogging for Books program in exchange for this review. There was no obligation to give a positive review, and if you read my blog, you know I'm a tell-it-like it is kind of girl. I mean what I say and say what I mean, that holds true for my review.

My Perfect Pantry by Geoffrey Zakarain with Amy Stevenson and Margaret Zakarian is a wonderful new book where Chef Zakarian teaches readers how to stock a basic pantry and create a host of simple, yet creative recipes.. People may know Geoffrey Zakarian from being a Chopped judge or from being an Iron Chef. I was expecting a lot of fussy recipes, but was pleasantly surprised to see that My Perfect Pantry really does include great, simple recipes. The recipes aren’t just the same renderings that you have seen before, they all have unique twists and updates. Whether it’s making Popcorn Soup or adding gelatin to Meat Loaf as a binder the recipes contain twists.

Chef Zakarian’s pantry staples in My Perfect Pantry include everything from pasta, maple syrup, popcorn, condensed milk and all manner of easy to find ingredients. He points out that with a well-stocked pantry (he uses a base of 50 ingredients) many recipes can be created by the simple addition of fresh produce and protein. His sumptuous looking Marinated Flank Steak with Mashed Sweet Potatoes is prepared with his own BBQ sauce recipe (also included in the book), so in some cases you can prepare some of your own pantry staples. He also gives suggestions for proper store and preparation for other pantry basics.

Reading My Perfect Pantry is also a visual feast due to the beautiful food photography. I’m so grateful that there’s a reference picture for each completed dish as well as some beautiful pictures of pantry staples. I was awestruck by the Tuna Salad Sandwich and wondered how he got it to look so amazing. Thanks to the picture of the canned tuna in olive oil (a recommended staple) I now know what my tuna should look like. We’ll hope my sandwich turns out to be as delicious looking too.

The recipes in My Perfect Pantry are very clearly and concisely written. I like books that can balance simplicity with clarity and I feel this book does an excellent job of doing just that. There are tons of different recipes from among the 150 contained in the book. Every type of food from soups, main courses and desserts are represented. Different cultures as well as kid-friendly recipes (I was so pleased to see that my own fried chicken really looks like Chef Zakarian’s Family Chicken Finders) are found in this book. Wonderful recipes from Maple Buttermilk Pork Roast and Brown Sugar Pie are on my short list of recipes to sample from My Perfect Pantry.

I would recommend My Perfect Pantry for either a beginning cook or an experienced cook. Chef Zakarian truly helps a home cook create a kitchen atmosphere that encourages basic food done beautifully, created with a well-appointed pantry that can benefit anyone.

Geoffrey Zakarian’s cookbook “My Perfect Pantry” is all about creating innovative recipes …150 recipes to be exact… from 50 essential ingredients in your pantry.

But Geoffrey Zakarian just doesn’t use any kin In case you missed the memo last week, Geoffrey Zakarian , Food Network Iron Chef, Restaurateur, TV Personality Star: Chopped, Iron Chef America, The Next Iron Chef, Hell’s Kitchen and his newest show The Kitchen, has a new cookbook “My Perfect Pantry” that made its debut on October 7, 2014.

Geoffrey Zakarian’s cookbook “My Perfect Pantry” is all about creating innovative recipes …150 recipes to be exact… from 50 essential ingredients in your pantry.

But Geoffrey Zakarian just doesn’t use any kind of pantry ingredients, he uses the simple everyday ingredients and turns them into superstars. Of course still traumatize from my broke college days of ketchup sandwiches I had my doubts about this cookbook. Nonetheless. with cookbook in hand. I headed to my pantry.

First, I had to check to see if the 50 ingredients was really as essential as Geoffrey Zakarian claims… and if these items were actually in my kitchen pantry. I had 43 out of 50 of Geoffrey Zakarian’s essential pantry items, not bad, we are off to a good start.

Second, I did something a little different, I usually read a cookbook cover to cover before I kitchen test. This time I wanted the element of surprise…yes…I am keeping the spirit of the Iron Chef going. I randomly grabbed (4) four items out of my pantry and headed to the kitchen to begin my adventure.

So what was the four items? First…ketchup…I know…I know…I was just as surprise as you.

The second item…Earl Gray Tea Bags and the Third item…Chocolate…And last but not least…Canned Tuna. So what were the winning recipes? For the ketchup we kitchen test the recipe “Ketchup-Glazed Cornish Hen” I didn’t have Cornish Hen, so we substitute with good ole…Chicken.

We made a lovely picture of “Earl Grey Iced Tea With Iced Tea Cubes” and I don’t know why I never thought about making this before. The canned tuna was used for making one of my absolute favorite salads “Salad Nicose” and for dessert we used the chocolate to make “Chocolate Dipped Candied Oranges” and I have to say everything was delicious.

Considering that all these items were just random items out of pantry I ended up with a pretty nice dinner. The recipes were flavorful and simple to make, I did finally read the cookbook cover to cover and I cannot wait to make Popcorn Ice Cream…so stay tune for more… we will definitely be cooking our way through this cookbook.

So do you really have to ask? Yes…I highly recommend this cookbook and for those of you who are lucky enough to be staying or visiting The Borgota Hotel Casino & Spa the weekend of November 7 and 8…you are in for a treat with Savor Borgata and Geoffrey Zakarian.

Geoffrey Zakarian is one of the typical combatants on the TV show Iron Chef America. He is also a restaurant owner and involved with a plethora of other shows. In all, he’s a busy chef.

My Perfect Pantry, his current cookbook, is not meant to evoke the fancy flavors of Iron Chef, nor of the high dining in his restaurants. Instead, this is directed at the home cook, giving guidance on how to stock your pantry and spice cabinet for some amazing meals.

The concept is simple: 50 foundation ingredients Geoffrey Zakarian is one of the typical combatants on the TV show Iron Chef America.

The concept is simple: 50 foundation ingredients are listed, and then there are recipes based on 50 pantry ingredients. Zakarian then builds recipes that utilize those ingredients to make dishes that range from snacks to entrees. The foundation ingredients are spices, and while I know, and you know, that great chefs burn through spices pretty quick so they don’t get old, we keep the same tin of cloves for a long time. I’ll say this: Zakarian says to change them out once a year, and it’s not a bad idea.

Then there are the pantry staples, again 50 items that will last a while. You can keep these on hand and just snag something off the shelf, make a marvelous meal!

If, that is, you have picked what you’re wanting to make and have the relevant fresh ingredient on hand. That’s the downside on this cookbook: on the one hand, I was hopeful it would give me ways to use just what I have. That is not what you get here, and I think the let-down is more on the marketing and description than it is on the author.

So, keep in mind that you will need to gather a few fresh ingredients to go alongside the staples and foundation spices listed. Some of them are certainly normal for the American kitchen: chicken, ground beef, eggs, but you just want to make sure.

I would recommend this one for someone past the beginner stage of cooking, or as a base for a big group gift-giving event. Picture throwing in with 20 friends to equip a newly married couple with this book and the 100 stable staples mentioned—there’s a great use for it.

Otherwise, it’s good. The food turns out well, but you may care for “Spicy Peanut Butter Slaw.”

I know I didn’t. So, your mileage will vary, but on the shelf beside a few others, a useful cookbook.

Free book in exchange for review: I picked a title I thought I’d like, so I’m predisposed to give it a favorable review. Send me books at random, and I’ll dislike more of them.
